Born and raised in Jingmen in the Hubei province of China, in 2005, Mei completed a BA in Food Science and Engineering from China’s Agricultural University. Upon graduation, she began working as a Customs Officer before quitting her job to pursue her lifelong ambition of becoming an artist. 

In 2021 Mei moved to the UK to undertake a Graduate Diploma in Art at Goldsmiths University. In 2022 she began her MA in Fine Art, focusing on large-scale paintings where she continues to pursue a visceral response from the viewer with her abstract works.
